This is a remarkable and all original VIPER 3 by Ovation circa 1975. The most critically successful guitar (and far and away hardest to find) of the Ovation company's production electrics. The viper 3 gets its name from the versatile raw power of the three passive high-output overwound single coil alnico magnet pickups. The tone you get from this instrument is fantastic. The design was way ahead of its time and generates more bite and stronger signal than the other guitars of the era. These pups were on average six decibels hotter than the competition at the time. They still wail. The bridge pick up magnets have been set on an angle to give more sizzle on the higher register. The viper is an extremely comfortable and well-balanced guitar. It's a two piece ash wood body single cutaway sporting a patent tri-mount bridge with brass saddles. The finish is ivory white -- this is the rarest and hardest to find of the viper 3 series. The design features a reinforced one piece rock maple C shaped neck, beautiful black ebony wood fretboard with pearl inlays, and twenty four nickel silver alloy frets for easy access to two full octaves. This is a straight up sexy guitar whose sound has stood the test of time, still offering all of its spank, sparkle and growl.
